Alumni Ask a Librarian

Use our Alumni Ask a Librarian form to ask a question or to get research help. Once you submit your question, you will be contacted by a Cornell librarian within one business day.

If your question requires in-depth research, a librarian may refer you to a fee-based research service. These services range in price from $75 to $135 per hour, depending on subject matter. A librarian or researcher would provide an estimate of costs for your consideration before beginning work on your question.

Borrowing materials from the Library

Alumni interested in borrowing materials from the Library while on campus can apply for a library card. Privilege cards for contract college libraries are available from Mann Library.

Printed volumes are only lent through library networks, not to individuals, so alumni who are not on campus may request interlibrary services through a local library with which they have a current, direct affiliation. If a local public library is not able to borrow the books needed, a county or regional library may be helpful.

Digital scans of book chapters or journal articles may also be requested through interlibrary services at a local library. If this service is not available for articles, requests may be sent directly to Cornell Interlibrary Lending, but this option may be more expensive ($20 minimum).
